Demand for electric car sharing service rises rapidly

In recent years, car sharing has become a rising trend amongst young people thanks to its affordable price and feasibility.

And now with the introduction of electric vehicles in the market, demand for cheaper “EV sharing services” has been rising even more rapidly.

Kim Mok-yeon reports.

One of the biggest reasons why people use a car sharing service is because of its low cost.
With the introduction of electric cars in the industry, the price of car sharing dropped significantly, attracting even more customers.

This is because the cost of borrowing electric cars to drive a 60 kilometer distance is about 8 dollars cheaper compared to renting normal cars.

“I use the service when I commute to work because its quiet, it doesn't smell like gasoline and it's cheap”

Due to the rising demand, industry experts have been making various efforts to strengthen and make up for the flaws of electric cars.

Recently, car sharing companies adopted electric cars that can run for up to 300 kilometers every time they charge the batteries.

Other companies are also providing various events and special offers for customers who rent electric cars.

“We lowered the driving fee to 0 won in order to promote the use of electric cars. Because of this, the renting hours became longer and customer satisfaction became higher”.

With the development, demand for electric cars over normal cars hiked by some 20 percent, and the average leasing hours and the mileage of electric cars also exceeded normal cars by 245 percent and 63 percent respectively.

The government is also seeking various measures to support the wide-spread use of electric cars in the future.
