Vicki Zhao Wei denies becoming Singaporean after boycott of her film
'No other love'《没有别的爱》is a new film directed by Vicki Zhao Wei. Netizens have been calling for a boycott of the film in recent days because they think that the main lead, Leon Dai, has ever supported activities relating to the Taiwan Independence Movement.
In addition, they alleged that Kiko Mizuhara who has a bit role in her film, once 'Liked' a photo that denigrated the Chinese.
They also claimed that Zhao Wei herself is planning to drop her Chinese citizenship and become a Singaporean.
Zhao Wei has clarified that her heart has always been with Beijing since birth and her future will continue to be in Beijing. She adds that Kiko Mizuhara did not participate in her film and Leon Dai has publicly stated that he is not supportive of Taiwan Independence.
Zhao Wei says that regardless of whether one is a mainlander or a Taiwanese, they are all Chinese and should not be fighting.
Since Zhao Wei's clarification, an anonymous netizen has leaked that Kiko Mizuhara did participate in her film but her scenes has been replaced by another actress after the controversy.
UPDATES: Zhao Wei and her production team had requested for Leon Dai to declare clearly to the public that he does not support Taiwan Independence, but he has remained vague on his stance and was therefore replaced. He has since apologized and accepts the decision of the team.
Meanwhile, Kiko Mizuhara has bowed in apology on her blog, clarifying that she was not the one in the photo that denigrated the Chinese, even though it may look like her. She also did not 'Like' the photo.
