Kenji Wu loses hearing in left ear from overwork
Kenji Wu (37) has recently discovered that he has lost his ability to hear in his left ear.
From May 2016, he has been experiencing ringing in his left ear but didn't see a doctor as he thought it was a small issue.
It was only later, when he started to have difficulty hearing the high and low notes, and others speaking, that he went for a checkup at the hospital, where the doctors diagnosed him with sudden deafness.
Kenji's nerve cells in his left ear has been found to be partially damaged, leaving him with only 60% of hearing. As he didn't seek treatment within the first one or two days, he has lost the best opportunity to recover his hearing.
Throughout the year, he was busy overworking himself with movies, a new album and his other sidelines. His high-stress, sleepless nights has been suspected to be the cause of his deafness.
Kenji maintains a positive outlook and reassures his fans that 60% of his hearing is enough and his lost has made him more aware of life and drives him to put in more effort to complete his dreams.
On a similar note, JJ Lin almost lost his voice after overusing it several years ago. Fortunately, he recovered.
And in 2013, Bank of America Merrill Lynch intern Moritz Erhardt, 21, was found dead in his shower after working for 72 hours straight without sleeping. He died from epileptic seizures while showing.
Please don't drive yourself too hard and damage your body permanently.
